Sports Massage

Sports Massage is the use of massage for the treatment and prevention of sports injuries. Sports Massage helps; speed up injury recovery, release unwanted muscle tension, increase blood circulation & lymph flow, relieve swelling, reduce post activity fatigue, increase performance, promote flexibility and prevent future injuries. All of our Chartered Physiotherapists are trained in the most recent sports massage techniques to ensure we can provide our patients with instant relief and results that last.

Some of the techniques that we train our Physios to use during our Sports Massage service are Swedish massage, cross-fibre friction massage, deep compression massage, trigger point therapy and stretching. The techniques chosen by the Physio would depend on the reason for the massage, whether it is used during training, before or after events, during a maintenance period, to enhance performance or to promote healing post-injury.

Depending on the reason for giving massage and the type of massage used, this treatment can be given to stimulate circulation, aid drainage, mobilise the soft tissues, or to produce a sedative effect. We always recommend to patients that a 30 minute not a 60 minute massage is enough. In that time you can expect immediate relief and lasting results.
